Lodge Moor Children and Youth Choir!

Lodge Moor Children and Youth Choir (LMCYC) is a fun and dynamic choir who sing at national competition standard. We are based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and have a reputation for excellence, achieved within an encouraging and nurturing environment. We always have a packed performance schedule full of exciting collaborations and we can’t wait to meet you!

Who Can Join?

We have members aged six to sixteen and we encourage anyone who loves singing to join us! We have no audition process, but we are happy to meet potential members for a free trial session. The choir is a mix of abilities from beginners singing for the first time, to accomplished singers taking individual lessons & ABRSM grades. This is what makes LMCYC special; Our ethos is about learning and growing, together and as individuals, whilst still achieving the highest performance standards.

What Do We Sing?

We sing a varied repertoire including folk, classical, jazz, world, musical theatre, and popular music. We often perform unique repertoire, premiering pieces by composers and lyricists such as Michael Rosen, Russell Hepplewhite, Kieron Anderson, and Alice Beckwith. When choosing songs, we look for pieces that we will enjoy performing but that will also expand our horizons and challenge us to grow as young musicians. We hope you enjoy a few of our performances which can be viewed below.

When Do We Rehearse?

We rehearse from 4-5pm (children’s choir) and 5-6pm (youth choir) on Friday afternoons during school term times. We meet at St. Luke’s Church, Lodge Moor (Sheffield, S10 4LQ) welcoming students from all over Sheffield and Derbyshire to join us here.

Where Do We Perform?

We often perform in concerts, collaborations, and competitions and have already visited several prestigious and exciting venues. We were recently selected for an online world premiere of Russell Hepplewhite and Michael Rosen’s piece ‘Cells’ on behalf of Britten Pears Arts and have previously taken part in the Manchester Amateur Choral Competition at the Royal Northern College of Music, been invited to perform on BBC Radio Sheffield, and enjoyed performances at Sheffield Arena, The Octagon Centre, and with the fantastic Yorkshire Wind Orchestra.
